ABOUT

Welcome to The Plain Blonde!

Hi, I’m Janine and I love all things plain and simple.

I recently reached the quarter-life crisis age and decided that this is my year of change!

I am originally from the Netherlands, but a few months ago I moved to the United States with my husband, Stan. I quit my job, we packed our bags and hopped on a plane. There I was: recently graduated with a marketing degree, on the other side of the world without a job and for the first time in my life I didn’t really have a plan.

To be honest: the first weeks I was a little bit lost. But soon I realized that I was given something special: time. Time to figure out what it is I love waking up for every day. Time to reset, take care of myself and build new routines. Time to discover, to create and to step outside of my comfort zone.
Time to stop thinking and start doing!

I have always loved to travel and the adventure of the unknown. Moving to the United States has allowed me and my husband to travel more often and see more of the country we’re living in. We love to go on road trips and discover new places whenever we have the opportunity!

As much as I love the adventure of traveling, I also love to be at home: cozy up on the couch and light up a scented candle. If I’m not traveling, you can find me in the kitchen experimenting with gluten free and plant based recipes. I am very passionate about healthy living as well as well-being and am constantly trying out new things to incorporate in my life. I am also a massive tea drinker and cannot go a day without a good cup of tea!

With all these changes in my life and the new places I am visiting, I wanted a place where I could document and share my experiences to inspire others. I have been writing for as long as I can remember, but switched from writing stories to writing papers in university. This blog is a way for me to reconnect with my creativity and love for writing while sharing things I am passionate about.

Thank you for stopping by and remember to be grateful and love the simple things in life!

With love,

Janine
